It’s been awhile.
I hope you’re well.
Life update: I’ve been swamped with essays and assignments as the semester wraps up.
Hard to believe it’s almost over, but it’s gone really well.
I’ll share more of my experiences going back to university in the future.
For now, let’s talk about something important.
🌏 The state of the world
There’s no sugar-coating it–the world’s in a state right now.
Wars, corruption, natural disasters, greed, disillusionment…
It feels like things are really spinning out of control or breaking down now.
We’re all feeling it, both personally and collectively.
🕉️ A spiritual perspective
Here’s a reminder I want to share: death and loss are part of evolution.
I believe we live in a divine universe, designed to help us grow.
Death and life are two sides of the same coin, both pushing us to evolve.
This applies to our personal lives and the broader course of life itself.
Think about it–we can’t bring in something new or better unless we let the old decay and die away.
It’s easy in theory.
In practice? Not so much.
Right now, we’re watching outdated systems and ways of being pass away on the individual and global level.
It’s scary.
It’s hard.
We’re faced with the monumental task of not just going through loss, but rebuilding ourselves and our communities in newer, better ways.
🌝 You matter in all this
So, I have a question for you:
How do you feel about all this?
Scared? Anxious? Angry? Isolated?
Whatever you’re feeling, I encourage you to honor and accept it.
Dive deep into those emotions and process them.
Personally, I’m experiencing a whole mix: anger, frustration, confusion, sadness…
The outside world is as it is.
The real question is:
Who are you in the midst of all this?
- Why do you feel the way you do about the world or yourself?
- Are you blaming or projecting your feelings onto others or external factors?
- Have you taken responsibility for your emotions?
- Maybe you don’t care at all about what’s going on? Or, maybe you’re invested too much? Why is that?
We have to trust that solutions will come.
But right now, the most important thing is to stay cool.
Don’t get caught up in the doom and gloom.
Stay centered in yourself and in the divine.
This means accepting yourself and how you feel.
🔑 The key takeaway
When we process our emotions, we gain freedom from them.
Instead of projecting our anger or anxiety or whatever negative emotions we have onto the world, we internalize and process them.
Instead of adding to the mess of emotional volatility, we’re helping to reduce it.
This is what I think the world needs from us right now individually and collectively.
Healing yourself really is healing the world.
It’s cliche as hell, I know, but it can’t be overstated with feelings of powerlessness so common right now.
If you’re up to the work, here are a few tips:
- Meditate daily. Feel into your body, process the feelings or tension without getting caught up in the mental stories. Always return to the feeling.
- Own your emotions. Take responsibility for how you feel without blaming or victimization. This is the pathway to freedom.
- View transformation with wisdom. Allow yourself and the world to go through this process of transformation without resisting it. Remember, evolution requires death and loss.
- Ground yourself in your relationship to the divine. Nothing can harm your spiritual essence–you are, and always will be OK, even when it feels like you’re not.
How do you feel about what’s going in the world?
Do you feel the pressure in your life?
